New dates announced for 17th. World Leisure Congress

16 March 2022

We are pleased to announce that the 17th World Leisure Congress has been rescheduled to 11 - 15 December 2023.

Ensuring the world leisure community can meet in person at the congress is of crucial importance, and moving to 2023 will allow more certainty around international travel and still give everyone a chance to visit New Zealand during the summer.

The call for abstracts and registration timeframes have also been rescheduled. Take a look at key dates and keep up to date with what is happening here on the website.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dunedin, New Zealand in 2023.

The 17th World Leisure Congress has been postponed to 2023

10 February 2022

As we continue to navigate through the global pandemic and its impacts on well-being, leisure in our lives is of crucial importance to help us learn and live well. Due to the ongoing uncertainty and pressures the pandemic has caused, it is now not possible to meet in person for the 17th World Leisure Congress in December 2022.

We are currently reviewing our options to hold the congress in 2023 and will share future congress plans as soon as possible.

On behalf of the conference organising committee, we thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging situation.

I look forward to welcoming you to Dunedin in 2023 when we can meet in person to reflect on what we have learned and begin to chart where we want leisure research and the position of leisure in people’s lives to go beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
